Abstract
AZ91D magnesium alloy met the ASTM standard was directly prepared from the crude magnesium by melting, alloying and refining the magnesium in line-frequency coreless induction furnace and then holding purification in electric resistant furnace. The effects of ignition proof during melting process, impurities removal and purification as well as temperature control on quality of magnesium alloy were described to optimize smelting-casting parameters of AZ91D alloy directly prepared from crude magnesium. The experimental results verify that the method of directly smelting-casting magnesium alloy from crude magnesium have some advantages, such as easy parameters controlling, short technological process, low loss of metal elements, low energy consumption and environmental pollution, high production efficiency and high product quality as well as low cost.
