Abstract
Thermodynamic analysis was performed to validate the use of self-propagating high-temperature (SHS) technology to produce Al-Ti-B master alloy with any expected composition. The SHS Al-Ti-B master alloys exhibited a favorable microstructure as a grain refiner for Al. By changing the composition of the reactants and controlling the preparation sequences, the structure and composition of materials were adjusted in a wide range.
