Abstract

Preparation mesocarbon microbeads (MCMB) with coal-tar pitch by heat condensation at different heat treatment time (HTT). The appearance and particle size distribution of the MCMB are investigated by SEM, laser particle size analyzer and XRD, respectively. The results indicate that the sphericity degree of MCMB is improved with increasing HTT, and the quinoline-insoluble of the MCMB decrease and thus the MCMB surface become smoother. Moreover, Their particle size distribution become narrow and the micro-crystal structures are better with increasing HTT. However, their particle size distribution get into wide and the micro-crystal structure become worse when HTT is further increased.
