Abstract

Finite element method was used to take into account the following factors: the simultaneous engagement of three pairs of teeth, the influence of deformation of shafts and bearings and the deformation of shafts due to meshing forces of neighbouring gears, i.e, the influence of gear systems. Besides, the flexibilities of all points on which forces may act and store gear surface complex flexibility matrix in a database were computed. The flexibilities were recalled from database whenever needed; as a result, the computational time was greatly reduced. Aircraft gears in actual used were taken as examples. Calculated results showed that optimization or very good load equalization can be attained by our method.
