Abstract
A broach is an efficient cutting tool in machining industry. Based on improving efficiency on round broach, the paper introduces how to establish objective function and constraint condition of optimizing the design parameters of a broach in order to obtain two key parameters. i. e. the teeth space and rise per teeth. First, through the interface programmed by C+ + Builder, the system gets data from the knowledge base and database. Second, the coefficient in the constraint condition are quantified, and M file calculating the parameters of model in Matlab environment is also set up dynamically. Then the two design parameters of the broach mentioned above are achieved by calling the optimal tool. The method is also suited to design other type of broaches.
