Abstract

To transport payload into lunar transfer orbit using spinning tether system, reusable payload tossing system was proposed based on cislunar transfer mission, and optimal control law was developed for payload tossing stage. In the case of insufficient thrust, Hamilton equation was adopted to solve the problem. The numerical result shows that the tossing design is able to transport payload into desired orbit, and the control law could meet mission requirement. Compared to conventional rocket transport, much less propellant is required by the designed system with reusability.
