Abstract

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has great potential in detecting key performance indicators of batteries. The EIS measurement method based on the DC/DC converter has the advantages of small size, low cost, on-board usability, and real-time online measurement. A key issue in this measurement method is the selection of the excitation signal. There are shortcomings in existing excitation signals; thus, this article proposes a low-frequency modulated multi-sine excitation with a relatively low frequency of level switching. The proposed excitation is applied to the impedance measurement based on a DC/DC converter. The simulation results demonstrate that this excitation is easy to implement based on a DC/DC converter and exhibits almost the same measurement accuracy compared to the multi-sine excitation.
