Abstract
Raising the modulus of elasticity is very desirable for making polymer matrix more useful in engineering applications. High modulus matrix with high-density resin and the data concerning the relationship between free volume and modulus of high modulus matrix were prepared with positron annihilation technique. The experimental work was presented and the results were discussed. The results show the influence of different curing agents on two free volume parameters τ3/ns and I3/% and on tensile modulus and the influence of different contents of curing agent on free volume parameters and tensile modulus. It is shown that high-density resin, which has a small free volume, can achieve high tensile modulus of elasticity after cured.
