Abstract
On-line liquid infiltration joining of carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) composites was carried out with Ni alloy as the interlayer at the temperature of 1300°C and a holding time of 45min in vacuum and at an applied pressure of 20MPa. Result shows that the Ni alloy employed has favorable wettability with C/SiC composites. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) showed that the Ni alloy can infiltrate into the pores of the composites. The three-point bending strengths of the joints were ω=252.1MPa, ωcompress=260.3MPa.
