Abstract
Research on the equipment and technology for electromagnetic shaping directional solidification processing of small section stainless steel specimen was carried out in the State Key Laboratory of solidification processing, which is new technique combined electromagnetic casting technique with directional solidification technique. Experimental principle and method were introduced. The structure of inductor was presented. The effects of parameters, such as height of liquid metal cylinder, cooling intensity and distance, location of liquid/solid interface and traction rate of the specimen, on the shaping and solidification were analyzed. The smooth cylinder 1Cr18Ni9Ti specimen with diameter of 25 mm and column microstructure was obtained successfully.
