Numerical simulation on bypass transition of variable cycle engines

Abstract

Based on a double bypass variable cycle engines, a bypass transition process was given. Using multi-components control method, the performance of variable cycle engine mode transition was numerical simulated by a steady state model. Compared with general turbofan engine, the variable cycle engines could change obviously the bypass ratio, and the SFC(specific fuel consumption) is depressed on subsonic cruise condition.
