Numerical simulation of temperature field in vacuum arc remelting ti alloy

Abstract

Distribution of temperature field in VAR was analyzed by the ANSYS software to understand effects of remelting velocity and cooling condition on molten pool morphology in VAR process. At a given remelting velocity, temperature field in the VAR process is evolved from dynamic process into steady stage. With increasing in remelting velocity, VAR molten pool becomes wide and deep, and time reaching to steady stage becomes short. Cooling condition has only slight effects on time reaching to steady stage in VAR process and height of ingot.
