Abstract

Semicircular traveling wave surface was numerically computed and simulated. Drag-reduction characteristics of traveling wave were analyzed and the mechanism of drag-reduction was deeply studied by comparing traveling wave surface with plate surface. The results prove that there are second vortexes (called "artificial vortexes") in the trough of traveling wave, and these vortexes are confined in the trough. Also argument is provided for the theory of "second vortexes".
