Abstract

Study on the nitrolysis of DADN to HMX was carried out in N 2O5-HNO3 system under the catalysis of acidic ionic liquid (AIL). The effects of various parameters, such as dosage of the AIL, the molar ratio of materials, reaction time, reaction temperature and AIL type on the nitrolysis were investigated. The results showed that [Et 3NH]TsO was the best catalyst among 21AIL used. The purity of HMX obtained was 99%. HMX could be achieved in a higher yield of up to 95. 6%. AIL could be efficiently recovered by simple extraction without any apparent loss of catalytic activity even after five runs.
