Abstract
A method to modify the HF leaching technique is proposed. By the use of this method, the error caused by the dissolution of mullite can be measured and removed from the analysis results, and satisfying accuracy of the results can be reached. Experimental comparison shows that the accuracy of the modified HF leaching technique is much higher than that of the unmodified HF leaching technique and the X‐ray diffraction technique when these techniques are used to determine the amount of glassy phase in Al2O3–SiO2 ceramics. An example is given to show how to use the modified HF leaching technique.
