Abstract
Based on the analytical treatment of soft impingement [K. Fan, F. Liu, K. Zhang, G.C. Yang, Y.H. Zhou, J. Cryst. Growth 311 (2009) 4660-4664], a physically realistic relationship between the final transformed fraction fm and the heating/cooling rate Φ has been derived. It can be predicted not only for the transformation before soft impingement but also for the transformation after soft impingement. Model prediction for the precipitation of σ-phase in a 2205 duplex stainless steel has been performed. Good agreement with published experimental data has been achieved.
