Abstract

Aiming at the problem that it is difficult to rapidly optimize and determine the exposure parameters in industrial digital radiography(DR)/computed tomography(CT)imaging systems, a simple exposure parameter optimization method is proposed. Firstly, the expression of the exposure parameter model is derived according to the amount of radiation in ray imaging and the characteristics of the detector output curve. Then, contrast and signal to noise ratio (SNR) are used to characterize the quality of the DR/CT images; and the objective function of the exposure parameter optimization is given based on the analysis of the relationship between exposure parameters and image quality. Finally, three optimization criteria of the exposure parameters are determined. In the experiment, the exposure parameter model was established and the optimized exposure parameters were quickly obtained for a specific imaging system; and the image quality and detection efficiency are significantly improved.
