Abstract
The microstructure evolution and solidification kinetics of undercooled Co-Ge eutectic alloys was analyzed. The eutectic coupled zone was calculated on the basis of current eutectic and dendritic growth theories. The results of thermal history of droplet before solidification showed an enhanced tendency of undercooling and cooling rate as droplet size decreased. The results confirmed that both the undercooling and cooling rate play an important role in eutectic and dendritic growth.
