Abstract

The microstructure of Haynes230 ingot and the distributions of alloying elements before and after homogenizing treatment are investigated by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectrometer. Meanwhile, the diffusion kinetics of alloy elements during the homogenizing treatment is studied based on the data from energy dispersive spectrometer. The identification of carbides is carried out by X-ray power diffraction on electrolytically extracted residues. The results show that the homogenizing treatment at 1200°C for 24 h is effective to reduce the microsegregation.
