Abstract
In order to ensure that a missile can hit its target accurately, it is important to detect bridges automatically from aerial images. An approach is proposed based on the sharp contrast that exists naturally between a river and a bridge in aerial image. The rough and fine segmentation of a river are discussed. With the river's skeleton known, the bridges can be easily and automatically detected. Experimental results show clearly that the method is feasible.
