Abstract

The variation of the chemical composition concentration and the microhardness values in the surface layer of phosphorus cast iron was investigated after dry sliding. The experimental results indicate that the hardness and chemical composition vary with distance from the sliding surface in the surface layer. The sliding condition and the microstructure of the pin specimen have great effects on the hardness profile and the composition distribution.
