Mechanical behavior of stainless steel Cr12Mn5Ni4Mo3Al at high temperature and strain rate

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The compressive mechanical behavior of stainless steel Cr12Mn5Ni4Mo3Al was experimentally investigated in temperature range of 20°C to 800°C and strain rates range of 10 2 to 10 4/s by using split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). The experiment results show that the mechanical property of the stainless steel depends heavily on the testing temperature; the dynamic strain aging can be observed in the temperature of 300°C to 500°C, and the temperature range in which the dynamic strain aging occurs seems independent on the applied strain rate. It is also found that the strain rate sensitivity of the material decreases with the increase of temperature.
