abstract = "This paper mainly deals with the problems of user grouping in multibeam multicast satellite systems. To maximize the system throughput and suppress interference, we studied a load balanced user grouping scheme. We first studied the user grouping scheme with randomly selected grouping centers and addressed its shortage. Then, to further improve the achievable system rate, a K-means algorithm based load balanced user grouping scheme is proposed to get a more suitable grouping. Furthermore, the proposed user grouping scheme with or without load balanced consideration is analyzed and compared. The simulation results are finally presented to demonstrate our proposed scheme can be applied to distinguish user group with different characteristics and has an improvement of system rate.",
