Abstract

A C/SiC composite was prepared by chemical vapor infiltration. The joining of the composite was carried out by liquid infiltration process under conditions of axial pressure (15 MPa) at 1300° C in vacuum with different holding time range from 15 min to 60 min. A kind of Ni-base alloy was used as the interlinker. The microstructure of the C/SiC joint was morphologically characterized by SEM, EDX, and the flexural strength of the joint was investigated, The results showed that the Ni-base interlinker employed had complete wettability with C/SiC composite and it could be infiltrated into the pores of the composite under the force of high temperature and pressure. The highest three-point flexural strength of the joint was 58 MPa.
