Abstract
Electromagnetic levitation-melting centrifugal casting is used for preparing the low-cost solar cell silicon wafer. The liquid forming mechanism for centrifugal casting of the wafer is studied by theoretical analysis, computer simulation and process experiments. The process contains to preheat the mold cavity up to the temperature of silicon melting point and pour the superheating molten silicon into cavity. When the wafer is formed under liquid state, the directional solidification technique can be used to obtain the coarse directional columnar crystal microstructure which is favorable for the photovoltaic property of the wafer.
