Abstract
A newly designed near-β type biomedical Ti alloy Ti-5Zr-3Sn-5Mo-15Nb (TLM) were introduced which are much more suitable for surgical implant and orthopedic materials. The typical mechanical properties and microstructure were studied by means of the alloying elements, process and heat treatment. The alloy possesses excellent biocompatibility, lower elastic modulus, higher strength, finer plasticity and fracture toughness matching by means of solid solution and aging treatment. The better workability of TLM alloy results from the stress-induced martensite transform.
