Abstract

Existing eigenstructure assignment method can be improved to make both its tracking capability and its robustness. In the paper, we explain how to make the improvement we envisaged. A brief introduction to eigenstructure assignment method is proposed. The design of feedforward compensator and integrator is put forward. Feedforward compensator is designed to obtain the desired natural frequencies of the system to ensure good stability margins and to provide good tracking response to pilot commands. Integrator is designed to reduce tracking errors and to provide additional robustness to modeling errors and disturbances. An aircraft with thrust vector is studied by using the presented method. Simulation results show preliminarily that the flight control system based on our improved eigenstructure assignment method not only provides good tracking capability but also has good robustness.
