Improved impulse noise filtering method

Abstract

A method to estimate the impulse noise rate is proposed in this paper. At the same time, to overcome the shortcoming of traditional median filter, an image denoising algorithm composed of noise detection and noise filtering for impulse noise is researched. The computer simulation results indicate that it is accurate to estimate the noise rate by this method. Moreover, the noise filtering method is effective in denoising image and preserving the edge simultaneously.
