Abstract

In order to study the dewetting performance of HTPB propellant, a device for testing propellant dewetting performance was developed based on the principle of gas dilatometer, and the test of the influence of formulation and strain rate on the dewetting performance of the propellant was carried out by using the device. The initial dewetting point, characteristic dewetting point and characteristic dewetting rate were used to characterize the dewetting performance of propellant. The test results show that the dewetting performance of propellant has obvious rate correlation, the higher the strain rate is, the smaller the initial dewetting point and characteristic dewetting point of propellant are, and the higher the characteristic dewetting rate is, but there is an upper limit on the internal dewetting rate of the propellant; the effect of AP content on the dewetting performance of HTPB propellant is dominant, and the higher AP content is, the smaller the initial dewetting point and characteristic dewetting point are and the higher the characteristic dewetting rate is. The established test method and dewetting performance characterization method are of important practical significance for structural integrity, mechanical property prediction and reliability evaluation of the grain.
