Flight Task-Driven Coordinated Control for Converter-Dominated Onboard MG of DEP UAV

Abstract

Different from the terrestrial microgrid (MG), the onboard MG of a Autonomous Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with a distributed electric propulsion (DEP) system exhibits extended controllability. In this paper, a flight task-driven control is proposed to coordinate the controllable units from both generation and consumption ends of the converter-dominated onboard MG. The proposed method not only ensures the requested flight task is achieved but also actively mitigates the voltage fluctuations induced during the task, thus reducing the capacity demand for the onboard Li-ion battery. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been analytically discussed and validated by simulations.
