Abstract

The effects of particle erosion on combustion property of solid propellant were investigated by using X-ray real-time radiography technique (RTR). A series of HTPB regression dynamic images as well as the combustion law of HTPB propellant were obtained. The results show that the burning rate of HTPB propellant can be increased under different particle erosion velocity conditions. When the erosion velocity of particles is more than a certain value, the concave pit would form on the burning surface of the test sample, which indicates that the effect of particle erosion on burning rate is great. When the erosion velocity of particles is less than this value, there is not obvious concave pit on the burning surface. But the burning rate could be increased with different degree under gas-phase erosion. The effect of concentration of particle on burning rate is not obvious.
