Abstract

To study the ignition and combustion performance of axisymmetric RBCC engine in scramjet mode, experiments were carried out on the direct-connected test-bed. The combination of the strut-rocket and the injection of pylons was adopted as the way of ignition and flame holding, and the injection schemes of the fuel were investigated. The results of the experiment and numerical simulation indicate that this way of ignition could achieve reliable ignition and steady combustion. Using the manner of multiple injections could fully make use of oxygen and achieve sufficient combustion, but the proportion of the fuel injection should be controlled. By using double pylons, the mixing between the fuel and central air is promoted to increase the combustion efficiency and obtain good combustion performance.
