Abstract

Cold rolling and annealing of a TLM near β titanium alloy tube with about φ10 mm in diameter were studied. The effects of deformation degree and Q value on the mechanical properties of the tube were investigated by change the cold rolling parameter. A set of solution treatments of 680°C/1 h, 715°C/1 h, 750°C/1 h and 820°C/1 h, followed by water quench(WQ), air cooling(AC) and furnace cooling(FC) were carried out, respectively. The effects of solution treatment temperature and cooling rate on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the TLM alloy tube were studied. The results show that the plasticity of the tube is sensitive to the deform-hardening in low deformation degree. The plasticity recovered somewhat from the martensite transmission beyond deformation degree of 35%. It isn't suitable to process the tube at Q >2. The Rp0.2/Rm value is not more than 0.6 when the tube is heat-treated beyond the transmission point. Good strength and plasticity are gained by the solution treatment above transmission point and AC.
