Abstract
The hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20) crystals with different particle sizes and crystal apparent densities were prepared using a recrystallization method. The effect of CL-20 crystal particle size and crystal apparent density on sensitivity was studied using a Bruceton up-and-down analysis method and the standard gap test method. The results show that the impact sensitivity and the shock sensitivity reduce with the increase in CL-20 crystal apparent density, and the crystal interior space cavity decreases. But with the increase in CL-20 crystal size, H50 and gap thickness decrease, too. It means that the larger the CL-20 crystal size is, the higher the impact sensitivity and shock sensitivity are.
