Abstract

The microstructure and the elevated temperature tensile properties of TiC-particulate-reinforced titanium matrix composite produced by pre-treatment melting process (PTMP) were investigated under different heat treatment conditions. The result shows that the widmansttaeten structure cannot be found under near beta forging. The microstructure was changed at 980°C-105°C. With elevating of the solution treatment temperature, the original alpha content in Ti matrix composite decreases, the secondary alpha and acicular beta contents increase. Bi-modal microstructure has good tensile properties at the elevated temperature.
