Abstract
Rhombohedral domains coexist with tetragonal domains in a 'two phase zone' composition at morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) of (1-x)Pb(Zn 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 -xPbZr 0.47 Ti 0.53 O 3 (x=0.2-0.7) ceramics. X-ray diffraction data revealed that there is a field-induced rhombohedral-to-tetragonal phase transition during poling process. This phase transition is believed to occur because the rhombohedral domains are scattered in the tetragonal domain matrix. The highest electromechanical properties of this ferroelectric ceramics at MPB were attributed to this field-induced phase transformation.
