Abstract

The occurrence of periodic chain structures in microemulsions and emulsions under applied electric fields using laser diffraction metbod was investigated. The electric vector of incident polarized light rotated clockwise through water-in-oil microemulsions under external electric field. Such phenomena originated due to spatial symmetry breaking of distribution of droplets and charges which were induced by external electric fields. The tuned microstructure provided an approach to prepare nanometer patterns obtained by tuning the electric field strength and shape of electrodes.
