Development of a novel active suspension for vehicle

Abstract

A new kind of vehicle active suspension was presented based on Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator (EHA). According to the analysis of EHA principle and vehicle structure, EHA system model and quarter-car model were respectively established. Fuzzy control algorithm for active suspension was designed and EHA active suspension was simulated under sinusoidal inputs. In addition, DSP controller for active suspension was made and physical prototype and test bed of active suspension were developed. Finally, bench tests of active suspension prototype were completed. The experimental results indicate that EHA based active suspension improves ride comfortness, handling and stability of vehicle, and prove the feasibility and availability of control algorithm and active suspension prototype.
