Abstract

Titanium and its titanium alloys are becoming more promising biomedical materials for human hard tissue for repair and substitute with their lower density and lower modulus, high ratio of strength vs. density, fine corrosion resistance and workability, especially its fine biocompatibility. The paper summarized the designation, R and D, and application of biomedical titanium and its titanium alloys, and the nearest research results of advanced β type titanium alloys developed by China were introduced. In the end, the future developing direction on biomedical implant materials is also pointed out.
