N2 - High-voltage (HV) pulse power supplies (PPS) have been widely used in plasma generation, air and wastewater purification, radar, and microwave scenarios. Aimed at high density and low complexity, this paper proposes a two-stage high-voltage pulse power supply system, comprising the first-stage step-up full-bridge DC-DC converter, and the second-stage pulse transformer-based pulse generation circuit. The proposed PPS avoids the usage of multiple series-connected MOSFETs in the pulse modulation switch, and ratios of transformers are mitigated by the two-stage voltage step-up design, lowering the hardware implementation challenges. The detailed analysis of the proposed two-stage pulse power supply system is provided, and a 1kV pulse power supply prototype is implemented. Experimental results demonstrate that with a 120V DC input voltage, the PPS prototype can achieve 1.08kV unipolar rectangular pulse voltages with adjustable pulse widths ranging from 1 μs to 5 μs at a frequency of 20kHz.
