Abstract

The comprehensive design and function of a type of electronic control unit (ECU) for gasoline engines were introduced in this paper, and the hardware circuit including interface of the sensors, actuators with microcontroller (MCU) and MCU, and software control strategies for fuel injection and ignition, idle speed control, air conditioner were analyzed. By using the experiments of matching the ECU in the HH368-1E gasoline engine, the emission rules GB18352. 1-2001 and GB18352.2-2001 were met, while power, economy and transient performance maintained the same level of the original engine ECU manufactured by Siemens corp. The newly designed ECU was proved potentially to be fit for the control of light-duty automobile gasoline engines.
