Abstract
Aim: To our knowledge, there is no paper in the open literature dealing with the topic of the above title. In Ref.3, we discussed the methods of measuring material damping. Starting from Ref.3, we now design, build and operate a material damping measuring system for use in high-temperature and vacuum environment. Section 1 of the full paper deals with designing and building a setup for implementing high-temperature and vacuum environment; Fig.2 gives the schematic of the setup's construction. Section 2 deals with designing the material damping measuring system for use in high-temperature and vacuum environment. The measuring system consists of five subsystems: heating oven and heating control, vacuum control, temperature monitoring, water cooling, and damping measuring. Section 3 presents the operation results in Figs. 6 through 8; their analysis shows preliminarily that: (1) the temperature of the measuring system can be automatically controlled in the range of room temperature to 1100°C; (2) the pressure of rarefied air can be reduced to as low as 0.1 Pa; (3) its temperature and vacuum can be kept stable. Its operation is easy and simple.
