Abstract
Compound salt nucleating technique was applied to study the inductive melting and superheating of bulk samples of DD3 superalloys. The purification mechanism was demonstrated and effective thermal undercoolings of up to 250 K was achieved. Rapid dendritic growth within a definite undercooling range was realized through the experiment.
