Compression deformation of semi-solid LY11 alloy

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The effects of deformation temperature and the strain rates on deformation behavior and microstructure of the semi-solid LY11 alloy were investigated in the condition of isothermal compression. The results indicated that deformation temperature and strain rate have significant effects on peak value of stress of the alloy while slightly affect steady stress with deformation in liquid-solid temperature zone. The solid grain size keeping initial near-spheroid increases with the increase of deformation temperature and the decrease of strain rate. The dominant deformation mechanism varies with varying the processing parameters during compression.
