Abstract

It is a difficult problem to establish a mapping model between color and emotion. To tackle this problem, an expressive method based on multidimensional emotion-semantic space (MESS) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the measurement features of color and emotion semantic information are analyzed from the view of information theory. Then a multidimensional emotion-semantic space is established using semantic differential method. And the characters of the mapping between color space and MESS are analyzed in terms of Euclidean space. Furthermore, an algorithm of corresponding granularity and dimension of MESS is proposed to eliminate the potential semantic-hole. Finally, this expressive method has been applied to a color design system, and experimental results show that the method is effective to fill the gap between color and emotion at different granularity level.
