Abstract

A new device was designed to collect the condensed particles in the chamber of SRM under different operation pressures and different retention time. The typical HTPB composite propellant containing 18.5% aluminum was experimentally investigated under different operation pressures, and the collected particles were analyzed by means of Mastersizer 2000 and SEM. The results show that particle size of combustion products of the typical HTPB composite propellant containing aluminum is between 0.05-100μm, and volumetric distribution peak value of particle size is less than 5μm. With the increase of the pressure, particle degree distribution peak value is slightly raised, and diameter distribution is concentrated.
