Abstract
Since RCS of the orbital targets is influenced by a lot of complicated factors, it should be treated as a random variable. While the RCS random fluctuating model was introduced, the method used to calculate the detection probability with RCS treated as a constant or a certain function of the pitching and azimuth was not adaptable any more. In this paper, by using the Mont Carlo simulation technique, a method based on the χ2 fluctuating targets model to calculate the probability of detection for orbital targets by the ground based phased array radar system was developed. The method mentioned here provided modeling to support the mission planning of the space based weapon systems.
