Abstract

Piloted receiver aircrafts are most common type of aircrafts which get refueled in flight for increasing its flight range. This paper stresses an essential technical problem related to the controller design during aerial refueling process intended for piloted receiver aircraft equipped with fly-by-wire flight control system (FBW-FCS), which is the typical symbol of modern airplanes. Considering the fact that pilot is sensitive to norm overload and angular velocity during the flight, the proposed C* control law in longitudinal channel receives the pilot’s joystick movement as input as well as normal overload and pitch angular velocity as feedback signals for smoothly aviating the aircrafts with good feelings. An attitude boundary protection method is also introduced to ensure the flying safety. Simulation results manifest that the proposed C* control law is effective for controlling norm overload with great transition performance.
