Abstract

Tubular nanofibers have received increased attention in the last decades in the medical field due to their exceptional properties and potential applications. Tubular nanofibers have been utilized in tissue engineering for replacing damaged tissue and repairing the function of the native tissue such as vascular, urethral, nerve tissues, cardiac tissues, and soft bone. Tubular nanofibers of suitable biocompatible and biodegradable polymers can be seeded with the cells and used as a scaffold in tissue regeneration. Tubular nanofibers have been emerged as a promising candidate for biosensors due to their high catalytic as well as electron transfer property and superior electrical conductivity. Tubular nanofibers having specific properties have received substantial attention for drug delivery, antibacterial, and blood dialysis applications. Magnetically functionalized tubular nanofibers have potential applications in different medical devices. Tubular nanofibers are multifunctional in their function and can also be applied for other medical applications.
