Abstract

The requirement of single crystal turbine blades and large cross-section industrial gas turbine blades was introduced briefly in this paper. The development and current situation of the liquid metal cooling(LMC) process, selection of the cooling medium and the control of some process parameters were reviewed. The heat transfer during the solidification process was also analyzed. The advantages of LMC process on microstructure, properties and the inhibition of defects were summarized. The further development was proposed.
